Launching September 9, 2025:
We Have a Story to Tell: Augmented Reality History Tour
Step Into the Story. Walk the Road to Freedom. Discover New Orleans like never before—through the legacy of one of its greatest heroes.
This powerful and innovative experience blends live performance, digital storytelling, and historical research to bring the extraordinary life of Captain André Cailloux and the rich legacy of the Bayou Road corridor to life.
Tours will run Tuesdays through Fridays at 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM CT, beginning Tuesday, September 9. Tickets are $45 per person.
Designed for both locals and visitors, this one-of-a-kind experience includes a guided site walk, an interactive augmented reality component, and a live one-man theatrical performance portraying Captain Cailloux himself — a freedom fighter, soldier, and martyr whose legacy has shaped the course of American history.
The AR Tour is not self-guided; each experience is led by a trained tour guide and includes a live Q&A with the actor in character. Developed by a team of Black creatives committed to cultural preservation and community storytelling, this project honors the past while inviting new partnerships in the ongoing reclamation and revitalization of Bayou Road.
“The We Have a Story to Tell tour is more than just history — it’s a portal into the courage and complexity of Black life in New Orleans,” says Lauren Turner-Hines, Executive Director. “We’re excited to share this living tribute with the public and welcome partners to join us in amplifying stories that matter.”
