The Free Peoples Farmers Market

The Free People's Market is a monthly gathering on historic Bayou Road where neighbors come together to shop local, eat well, and connect, rooted in the legacy of Bayou Road as New Orleans' oldest trading corridor. Come for fresh produce, local makers, and the kind of community you can only find when people build something together

Designated Saturdays,
from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Our one-hour School Field Trip brings New Orleans history alive on historic Bayou Road. A guided tour, a live immersive theater performance, and a student Q&A that connects the past to the present.

Stories that textbooks can't tell.

Spring 2026 dates are available now.

A real home for the work. Our 10-month Co-Op Residency beginning in March 2026 is open to early-stage and emerging BIPOC-led or BIPOC-aligned performing arts and arts education organizations in New Orleans. A small cohort. Shared resources. Stages, support, and community — so you can stop managing the overhead and start making the art. This space is yours to help shape.

Despite colonization and its progeny—gentrification —Bayou Road remains a center of transnational and multicultural exchange. We are reclaiming the historic narrative and purpose of this corridor.
