A Film by dream hampton

Freshwater is an experimental video short written and directed by the artist dream hampton. A meditation on Detroit, Freshwater unveils the fluid nature of memory in familial and geographical legacies. In this film, hampton explores the duality of water as a force of both harmony and devastation. Freshwater is a narrated tale of remembrance, flooding basements, and maintaining connections in the wake of climate catastrophe. The event includes music by DJ 2 Ready and poetry by Sha’Condria “iCon” Sibley as well as a post-screening conversation with dream hampton and cinematographer Erik Paul Howard.

Featuring Kai Knight's Dance Theatre Collective Congo to Congo Square highlights the movement of the people of the Africa Diaspora, ranging from West Africa, the Caribbean, and our very own Congo Square! The presentation includes history and culture, dance performance, and audience participation.

Patron parking is available in our adjacent parking lot Monday through Friday from 6 pm - 7 am and 24-hours Saturday through Sunday (unless otherwise noted).
Street Parking is available at all times
